Rosetta Stone is addicting. I'm only a few lessons in, but having fun! I'm not sure how well of a learning tool this is, but I figure it's worth a shot. I'm bad at formulating things to study myself. It's a "learn by immersion"-type program, so if I have any curiosities about the more technical stuff, I'll most likely end up looking it up anyway, so it's all good! I wonder if there's a vocab list I can study...
Meanwhile there's only like a week left of the Sonika contest and I haven't drawn anything TAT I should throw a bunch of random designs together.
Everytime I see "Mishaland" in Fandom Secrets I think of WAHAHA and then there WAS a KS secret! Warms my heart to see so many people jumping to it's defense. I dunno what it is about that game but I want to see it succeed.
I got invited to an Eto Rangers Club on Sheezy art!
We are now the only two members. OHOHOHO. |

~ I fell asleep at 10am and slept until 11pm THIS IS HEALTHY.
~ I'd do that TL;DR meme but most of my answers would be exactly the same as Momo's fff.
~ I've been actually sketching lately. I need to do it a lot more though. I don't like really showing my "in progress" stuff when it comes to trying to make new characters, it's the only art stuff I'm inexplicably embarrassed about! (As opposed to things I'm reasonably embarrassed about) Also for some reason the first image I draw on a piece of paper is TERRIBLE and only gets better by the third image.

~Finally started playing a bit of Yume Nikki.
S- something tells me I'm going to have to start making hand-drawn maps. STOP TAKING ME TO DIFFERENT PLACES WHEN I'M NOT DONE EXPLORING, WEIRDO DREAM CREATURES. I have 4 effects though! Like being fat.
~I kinda wanted to go to the Midwest Furfest convention... See some buds and such. Technically I COULD since Momo can drive and we could sleep at grandmas, but I have no admission money. DARN YOU, MONEY. I DON'T HAVE ANY OF THAT.
~ I love Deviantart. |

Fwahhh everything's back to normal I guess.
Now I can stop flaking out on a certain RP, I'M SORRY GUYS.
It's lonely here again :[ Probably good incentive to finish signing up for school, even if I have to write a short essay about how I'll "enrich the school's community" which is inexplicably difficult! And really stupid blah.
Tapping my GBC too hard makes it restart! I'll have to collect a bunch of stuff in Survival Kids all over again.
Lastly I'm curious, has anyone ever played any of the "Lost in Blue" games? |

IT IS 7am AND I COULD NOT SLEEP. fksdjhfsjggf
Apparently we have a board game that is worth like 100-200 dollars, Dark Tower. It's been sitting around for years, and upon seeing it, Michael demanded we play. Pretty fun, and the electronic tower still works! He then wiki'd it and I guess it was only made for a year, neat. I can't seem to win because my soldiers don't like to stay alive ;_;
Uhhh going to Chicago today! I get kinda bored there, personally. But we might get to eat at a fancy restaurant so that excites me.
I want Harvest Moon: Animal Parade. But for now I feel like playing Survival Kids.
I'll be back to internet activity after Tuesday! That's when Michael leaves, bleh. |

Man I haven't updated in a few days!
Truthfully, my motivation to do much of anything has been low, so there's really nothing to report. I don't think I'm depressed or anything.. but man nothing feels worthwhile lately :\ Maybe I should.. run on the treadmill or something. Get the energy flowing.
This pillow is orange because Brandi was Misty for Halloween.
Uhhhhh that's it.

I'm hooome!
Disney was fun. It was neat to have sort of the "whole experience" that comes with staying at a resort hotel and taking the buses around and all that. It was Mom, Grandma, me, Jasmine, and sometimes Michael. Also really nice seeing Michael again, even if it was just for two days. Our room was awesome because we had zebras and giraffes and impalas and pelicans and Party*Birds(well, that's what I called them) right out our window! This one giraffe really liked to sleep every night at this spot near us. Went to every park, rode a few things, etc etc. Good times! SO MUCH HEAT AND WALKING but that's okay. Best part was gawking at all the animals at Animal Kingdom, mostly |D AND PHOTO WITH RAFIKI. |

Wow, Eto Rangers episodee 12-13 was awesome, at least for the show's standards. Actual plot happening, and pig-mecha fighting a giant robot wolf followed by a huge dragon also fighting said wolf. A bunch of characters seemed to get action too! While Bakumaru-tachi are in the Novel World, the remaining team has to protect the princess from an intruder.
It's so weird though. Upon seeing the first ep, Bakumaru registered in my head as "noisy kid of the bunch". But since this is a childrens' show, he takes the role of the main character. And by that, REALLY obviously the main character. "What should we do, Bakumaru?" is said constantly, and he's usually the one to take the lead in situations while others cheer on. A lot of the characters are obviously older and stuff, but Bakumaru is the one who gives encouragement and gets to yell all the "LET'S GO"s and such.
Buuut he is also Number 1 on the Zodiac, and totally the one kids would sympathize with. And.. I can't think of anyone else who would be the main. HE IS ALSO SO DARN CUTE. His role is almost unnaturally central, though. I'm attributing this to the fact it's been a long time since I've sat down and watched a shounen meant for younger audiences! It's kind of nice how none of the characters seem to treat each other differently based on age. It seems like all 12 have equal respect for each other in that sense.
Hrm, I want to animate more things. |

( I animated that tegaki picture. )
I hate that no matter how many times I write down my SS number, I always forget where I wrote it, and I can never remember the number! Argg. Asking mom for the billionth time just so I can apply is so embarrassing... I notice I get anonymous commenters on my journal sometimes. Who are you, mysterious commenters? ARE YOU A FRIEND OR A FOE? It is a mystery.
Mom says we might go to Disney World soon. Lol oh okay mom! |

HEY HOWABOUT SOME SCREENCAPS because I'm in a retarded mood.
( theres only ten so its not too image heavy )
Pochiro actually seems like he should be one of the smarter mature ones, calling people "dono" and all that "de gozaru" business but really he mostly just fights with Monk and acts a bit stubbornly XD Tart did all the tactical thinking in this episode! (Though for a children's show, "tactical thinking" simply means AIM FOR THE JOINTS)

A bit on Bakuretsu Eto Ranger This show is adorable! It's very much a kids show. I can't even contain myself how cute some of these guys are when they come on screen, especially the girls and the mouse.
Unfortunately my inner feminist comes out a bit when it comes to one of the characters!

| Getting tired of my tl;dr yet? |
[Oct. 21st, 2009|11:36 pm] |
I think I can understand a reason that people may be inclined to create characters that are self inserts.
No matter how much media one consumes, you will never find a character that is completely relate-able. I've found characters that were CLOSE; "shy and quiet" types that seem written by people that actually understand how we work, but there are SO many different kinds of people and so many different branches of the same archetype that it's impossible to find someone you relate to on all counts. Maybe once again, having a twin sister spoils me. But I think it's reasonable for once in a while, guiltily, in the back of a person's mind, to think "Gee, I wish the character would do what I would do in a situation, and has my same moral standards!" Or maybe I would feel less weird if there was one other completely fictional character out there that someone I don't know invented that makes some of the choices that I make. Usually I end up relating best to exaggerated characters in fantasy worlds where normal everyday situations (that I respond very oddly to) need not apply. A "regular" highschool or college setting usually alienates me right off the bat!
Not trying to defend a lazy way of character-creation, but at the same time I think the urge to do so is sort of understandable. |
